Bancroft Bike Plan

The "Bancroft Promenade Trail" is a series of bike facilities that will connect the University of Toledo, and many West Toledo neighborhoods, to Promenade Park in Downtown Toledo.

A small portion of this corridor has already been complete with bike lanes being installed on Bancroft west of Monroe.

The community has been in favor of the west-most section of the plan from Secor to Westwood. However, there has been strong opposition in regards to the section of the plan from Westwood to Monroe. This particular section includes both a road diet (Bancroft will be reduced from 4 lanes to 3), and a roundabout at the intersection of Bancroft and Parkside. The city engineers have included these features in the plan to comply with the city's Complete Streets Ordinance, which focuses on improving safety and creating streets that support all types of users (cars, bikes, and pedestrians).

The TBC has been working to grow community support through public education and involvement as well as lobbying City Council to ensure that the plan is fully implemented.

Below are a few resources regarding the plan.
